How do I set a course training interval?

D
Written by Daria Nasedkina

The Training interval is the number of months expected between completing a course and repeating it. It's especially useful for courses that need repeating regularly to maintain compliance, such as Fire Awareness, and for courses meant to refresh learners' skills and keep their knowledge up to date.

You can apply this setting globally (to all courses) or to individual courses, with individual course settings overriding global ones.

Note: The Training interval determines the expiry date of a learner's completed course and, if configured, triggers a new session for the learner to refresh their knowledge or renew their certificate. For more details, see How do I lock or unlock new sessions during a training interval?

Step-by-step instructions

How to set the training interval globally

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. In the GENERAL section, click Global settings.

  3. In the TRAINING section find Training interval and choose:

    • Default value (12 months), or

    • Choose value, and type in your value.

  4. Click Save changes.

How to set the training interval for an individual course

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. In the COURSES section, click Course settings.

  3. In the list of courses, click the course title you want to change.

  4. In the GENERAL section, find Training interval and click the arrow to show the list.

  5. Select your value:

    • Default value (12 months), or

    • Choose value, and type in your value.

  6. Click Save changes.

Note: Learners can review course content for up to 7 days after completing it, without starting a new training session.

If you've set a training interval, you may also want to change the New sessions setting, which locks or unlocks a training course during a training interval period. See How do I lock or unlock new sessions during a training interval?
