Overview
Required reading makes a resource obligatory to review and confirm its understanding by everyone in your organisation — for example, fire safety procedures.
Required reading set this way applies to everyone, regardless of the courses they're enrolled on. To make a document required only for learners on a specific course, link it to that course instead. See How do I link a resource to a course?
What happens when a resource is set to required reading
The learner's dashboard shows a reminder for any unconfirmed required reading resources.
The resource is highlighted on the learner's Documents & policies page.
After viewing the resource, the learner is asked to confirm they've read and understood it.
The confirmation date and time is recorded, and you can download this for reporting.
If you use automated messaging emails, you can include a reminder for required reading resources.
Step-by-step instructions
Click the Settings tab in the side menu, or the ⚙ Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Find the Add-Ons card and click Documents & policies.
Find the resource you want to change, then click the menu icon on the right of its details.
Select Edit.
Select Required reading by Everyone.
Click Save changes.
